Don't Let Your Newsletter Become the Local Race That NOBODY Knows Exists

Last weekend, I ran in the only 10k race in my town—and somehow finished 7th 🙌

But here's the wild part: I only found out this race existed last year.

Despite:

  • Living here since 2005
  • The race being around since 2012
  • And being a "runner" since 2013

I just stumbled across it by accident in a Facebook group.

That means for 10+ years, I missed out on something I would’ve loved. Not because I didn’t care—but because I simply didn’t know it existed.

The lesson?

Nobody will just find your thing. You have to tell them about it.

Simply put: You need to share your sh*t—and often.

Stop assuming everyone knows...

→ what you do
→ how you do it
→ and how to get it

Know what happens when you don't share? You hold a race and barely anyone shows up.

Or in our case, you spend hours upon hours crafting a high-quality piece of content and publish it to crickets.

There should have been posters about the local 10k race all over the town: in coffee shops, grocery stores, schools.

People in your neighbourhood (i.e. your audience) need to be told or reminded about your newsletter/podcast/course/product/service—all of it.

Don’t be like the under-attended local race that most of the town doesn’t know exists….

And share your sh*t! 💩

But how?

You can't afford to be invisible to your ideal audience

So let’s talk about how to actually promote your newsletter—without relying on hope or random discovery.

Yes: you need to share your newsletter *often*.

But it takes more than just sharing it.
You have to make sure you're telling...

  • the right people
  • in the right places
  • with the right message.

Am I an expert doing this myself? Not quite, but I have a good idea as to how we can get better.

So I want to turn this into a mini-course called Share Your Sh*t.

It would look something like this...

  • The Anatomy of a Good Promotion
Message, timing, placement, call to action.
  • The Digital Coffee Shop Map
Where to find your audience, and how to show up without spamming.
  • Writing “Why Subscribe” Pitches That Convert
5 pitch types with templates + when to use them.
  • Promoting Without Feeling Cringe
Real examples, subtle inserts, ethical brags.
  • Promotion Systems > Promotion Sprints
Build routines that promote you every week—even while you’re offline.

If you want to get better at sharing your sh*t and promoting your newsletter, click below to let me know if you're interested. If enough people are, I'll put this together — with public accountability
